A dream - collab between business school and SU specializing in agri education

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

While this post was teaching part time at GSB, he had opportunity to join a group of Filipino Chinese businessmen to visit a carabao institute, Agri School and Rice Institute  in Central Luzon.   Indeed there were a lot of opportunities presenting themselves during the field trip:     beef substitute from Buffalo Buffalis, Mosarella cheese from milk of said carabao, new rice varieties, other new plant strains, post harvest facilities.  agri implements developed at the SU.

The scientific work  on the other hand did not have commercial applications.  The students, and or the university did not have means and resources to monetize their inventions.   (And then some wise guys then that the govt did not provide funds or resources to the invention.  Yes.  The government does no have    all the answers.  We private citizens can research the answer

While we talk about:  food security, agricultural productivity,, nothing concrete was being undertaken to put the resources together. Collab.   Shared faculties, and or shared curriculum   Why not collab between the GSB and the academic institutions in Central Luzon.   I broached the ideas to the higher ups at GSB but since they were busy with existing programs   Each instution has life of its own or should we say own
inertia.

And then some wise guys drum beat why we are not helping famers, why we are not doing about increasing agricultural productivity

Why are farmers not benefitting from value created from their produce.  A simple supply chain template can handle that:   ie timing planting and demand season.

Sayang!!

What do you think can be done?    To close the great divide between educ instituionss?  Theory and practice.

Contribution to nation building

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

It has been nearly a decade since this post ended his stint in the academe on account of his age (not because of old age)  It is with sadness we bid adieu to the student and the intellectual ferment that accompanies such an experience  It is with happiness though that this post views the post, because of the contribution (I think) that has been made to the business community, in words and deeds

The power points on entrepreneurship, the blogs,  the lectures, the Go Negosyo caravan, the seminal ideas inculcated in many MBA students in Clark, Subic, Sta Rosa and Cebu might have in a way contributed to the tremendous growth in economy we are experiencing (one of the biggest in the world) that we are experiencing.

The institution where  this post taught made sure we got the best training.   We were sent to Korea and Thailand and were trained by Stanford and Colorado gurus in our field of expertise.  We were visited by top professors too from abroad:  so that we sharpened the saw

What is the direction of trends?

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

Those who correctly guessed the direction of the industry made it big.

Apple, Steve Jobs correctly predicted that the cellphone is going to be the main platform for the homes.  Not TV, not the PC.  So Dell not matter how hard it tries, will not be able to push production of PC to exceed Apple.  Nokia failed because it relied so much on Symbian OS and missed the IOS and the Android OS.  The TV manufacturers are struggling.   Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic saw failures of TV
manufacturing.  The  appliance manufacturers missed the trend

The current markets in turmoil are:

Cars energy:     Batteries  fuel cells?  Hybrid.  My guess is hydrogen fuel  (fuel cell)

RE -  solar, wind?  Or any new technology? or wave.   Hybrid:   solar and wind
