Except for Israel and Ukraine, most nations will not go to war.  Many think that PRC is simply sable rattling for Taiwan.  There is so much to lose from going to wart, so much to gain from not going to war.

And so with PHL in relation to China. China is a long time trading partners.  So much in our culture we owe from Chinese,  food, language etc.   The earliest trading post with Chinese are in Otong Iloilo

The Chinese dreaded the Visayan marauders/pirates.  

This post is no PRRD defender.  But he must be commended for taking a pacifist albeit "treasonable" agreements   So much to  lose from trade and prosperity.   

By siding with US we have become a US proxy in this deadly cloak and dagger geopolitics.  The US welfare is not equal to Philippine welfare.   And China is employing a different kind of warfare with its enemies:    They call it unrestricted warfare that cover:   biological, military, economic, social, IT.

Our country's strategists must study all the fronts with adequate countermeasures.    Coast guard to coast guard cutter may  not be enough.   

We have to fight this war as smartly as they are conducting this now   

The hawks are having their time in the suites of power and authority  But it is time to pause and not be carried by false sense of patriotism.  Is not taking care of our jobs and economy not patriotism

Artificial intelligence: boon or bane to humanity

We are facing the greatest development in history of mankind:   Artificial Intelligence.    While it can boost our productivity (remove hours in thinking and analyzing problems)  make manufacturing more efficient it poses threats as eradicating necessity for human labor and thinking altogether.   Mr. Elon Musk, the richest man today, has expressed his fears about this.   It is a scifi futuristic movie came alive  (Terminator -  man vs machine)

Various investments opportunities for AI is flooding the techie stock market.  And yet there are difficulties ahead for jobs, economy and society.   Are we ready for these?

As we are facing these challenges, safeguards, limits must be defined.   And we here in LDC must immerse ourselves in AI and anticipate the challenges.

A dream - collab between business school and SU specializing in agri education

While this post was teaching part time at GSB, he had opportunity to join a group of Filipino Chinese businessmen to visit a carabao institute, Agri School and Rice Institute  in Central Luzon.   Indeed there were a lot of opportunities presenting themselves during the field trip:     beef substitute from Buffalo Buffalis, Mosarella cheese from milk of said carabao, new rice varieties, other new plant strains, post harvest facilities.  agri implements developed at the SU.

The scientific work  on the other hand did not have commercial applications.  The students, and or the university did not have means and resources to monetize their inventions.   (And then some wise guys then that the govt did not provide funds or resources to the invention.  Yes.  The government does no have    all the answers.  We private citizens can research the answer

While we talk about:  food security, agricultural productivity,, nothing concrete was being undertaken to put the resources together. Collab.   Shared faculties, and or shared curriculum   Why not collab between the GSB and the academic institutions in Central Luzon.   I broached the ideas to the higher ups at GSB but since they were busy with existing programs   Each instution has life of its own or should we say own

inertia.

And then some wise guys drum beat why we are not helping famers, why we are not doing about increasing agricultural productivity

Why are farmers not benefitting from value created from their produce.  A simple supply chain template can handle that:   ie timing planting and demand season.
