Throwback Electronic teaching - use of blogs

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

During my teaching stint, I learned how to blog.  Though there was no electronic teaching platform available at that time, I used the blog to:   publish the syllabus,  teaching materials, and the submission. of the assignment.  This encouraged competition, and the motivation to be better than others.

Later on some students became concerned with privacy (since blogs were treated as websites and assignment submission especially videos were searchable at Google.

Thus this post was able to achieve efficiency and saved paper and trees.

Innovation in teaching

Throwback - how to commit a crime

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

This starts the semester.  How to plan for a crime, a group, a collaborative effort by teams.
(There are teams/groups because one has to overcome group dynamics when you are in corporate setting)

I got this idea from a former prof on Problem Solving.   Criminals who are one step ahead of law enforcers prepare meticulously for a crime, have ROI computation, seek financiers, practice well
and ask cohorts to memorize what to do under a precise timetable, lest the operations will fail.  They also have elaborate exit strategies -  how to escape, and legal remedies when they are caught.

If criminals can do this, how about legit businessmen?  Is there an excuse for not planning or executing well.  It is only on whose side of the law and morality you are in.

Since it is a crime, the students were more motivated less restrained in the planning and execution.

This set the tone for excitement and what is to come ahead for the semester.  It is the entree for better
things to come

Throwback - Graduation skills - preparing a Business Plan

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

When I started new business, I relied on books on entrepreneurship which I took under Prof Davila who then was working at BOI.  I felt that my training was lacking in something

Hence when I had the opportunity to teach I saw the need for students in the subject to learn how to prepare  a full blown business plan:  complete with Marketing Plan, Operation Plan,  Financial Plan, exit strategy and contingency planning not to mention compliance with govt regulations

Hence I saw the need for an extended period for the students to prepare the  business plan.  Which I did for several terms

However then came the new head of the GSB who saw efficiency ie submission of grades within 7 calendar days after the end of the semester to be submitted.  Our chair insisted on doing that sacrificing the submission of the only proof of graduation skills.  ie bp preparation

Thus ended my career in teaching.
