Where would you invest?

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

Two opportunities presented themselves to us:

1 One project located nearby, a town with 313k population, a jv, cap ex would be about 20M max:
7 for titling, advances to the land owner:  about P6M. There is no competition   The town exec wants this to be put up at once.   We can sell the plots at premium since there is no inventory in the town

2  Another in an island province.  Near a filled up existing similar business, Cap ex needed about P200M
There is an existing competition with about 10,000+ inventories.   Population is lower than the nearby town.   303K legit population count.  We cant sell at a premium since there is a competition.
The site is near prohibited establishment.

I would prefer #1. because of lower cap ex.  Larger population,   No competition.

 What about you?

Vulture investing - is it a good strategy?

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

Is it good?  This is bargain hunting, basement chasing, and or taking advantage of companies going belly up, or buying scrap from a closing business.    Junk yard operators are such individuals, or car dealers specializing in vehicles from insurance company yard - buying totalled cars.

One such interesting spectacle is a young billionaire who sold his energy company for 10 numbers but who has invested in  1.  Ailing media company whose franchise for free air TV has been cancelled and
2.  Hacienda who have hundreds in millions of unpaid rpt, and even subject of agrarian reform.

Unless there is a new technology, high value crop,  to be used in agri for the hacienda, or a new plan for the media company like being a data or AI center?

Is this vulture investing?  Has the young billionaire made his due diligence.?  Properly advised?

I would not go his way of investment.   The risk for him are too great.  Unless his purchase price is at
deep discount or bargain.

Throwback: debate - are entrepreneurs born, made or product of luck

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

This was a group work.  Class is divided into 4:  3 positions and fourth one is the judge.

Are entrepreneurs (or leaders)  BORN, MADE (Trained) or result of LUCK (SWERTI)
Interesting arguments come out during the debate as well as judgment by the judge.

This is an interesting topic for us to ponder in the days to come.

Really, what do you think?  Are entrepreneurs born, made or product of luck?
