Ease of doing business in the country - will it ever happen?

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

The country's think tank and top govt officials at looking at the amendment of the basic law to change how things will go, especially business in the years to come to achieve superior economic growth and provide jobs and employment

But the convoluted laws and system  of government at the lower level will not make this happen.

Let us say you are a developer and you want to put up a land development project:

You have to navigate the following and this requires a lot of time and expenses:

        Tasks                                                   Agencies Involved                                Time required

In Singapore you can register your business in 1 hour.  How about in PHL?

This post did not put the timelines.  But easily, optimistic is 3 years, pessimistic is 5 years.  This is for a local business.  How much more if this is an offshore/foreign business.  The more grease money is needed to expedite the process.

Staff of government agencies would seem to enjoy the idea that the liaison officer of the proponent  keep of returning to get the approval

Improve the local laws and processes.  Streamline.  Then maybe ease of doing business can improve. So with our competitiveness.

I just saw that an App makes you start a business in one hour in Singapore

Amending the Charter?   They are wasting their time.  Thats the easy way out.  Perhaps they should look internally and look the other way.

Some businesses do not improve - customer service and processes

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

I had my blood exams this morning.  It was my nth time to go there for blood exam.  The bill amounts to about P2K+.  I have this procedure every month.

But every time, I have noted that:   1.   I have to write down my name on a piece of paper.  Dont they use the computer.  Can they have registry of my account.  Since this is routine job, could they not have an automatic SoA for my procedure, and maybe a registry of the results<

Why are they not improving.  Although I was the lone customer, the issuance of  OR took sometime.   Can they not automate the payment?   Are they not using apps?

Is this the computer age, or they are simply using the computer as others are as word processor?

Can they ;improve process, Can they delight the customer?

May be we are as guilty as they are in failing to innovate, in failing to improve.

Critical thinking: a description

Every generation needs a revolution - an entrepreneurial revolution

A graduate school is offering this for off campus students at five numbers entrance fee.  Fortunately, I had a chance to learn this and even teach this in entrep course I was handling at GSB.  I teach this/train our staff on this skill

It is very easy to fall into the conventional non critical thinking as we deal with our relatives and rest of our work force.  Critical thinking essentially stems from desire to decide intelligently,, separate the chaff from  the grains, and think logically.  Covered under the critical thinking topics are:

1.  Olo  -  observe learn observe
2.  Deductive reasoning (from general to particular)
3.   Inductive reasoning (from particular to general  (conclusion from data)
4.  Classifying, labelling

Not because an event happened before a another does it mean that it is the cause.

A particular event can not be held as universal truth.  Yet surveys make us think that way.

Innovative thinking, lateral thinking as formulated by Edward de Bono should be included here?

What was not discussed during my time is how crisis and extreme difficulties can can cause us to search for solutions that are bizarre and not done before
