"Food trip" by Nelle Canta

                                                                                                                       "FOOD TRIP"

The best way of learning, is to see, feel, taste and experience. Our food trip was not just a typical dine out thing, but a big part of our learning process in studying entrpreneurship. Everything is not learned from the books. You also have to observe around, learn, and continue to observe.
The food trip was comprise of food bazaar, a Korean resto and the traditional bakeshop. This was experienced in A-Venue grounds, Makati Avenue.  The first stop was at the A-Venue parking, which converted half of it to a food-retail goods bazaar. This night food market thing has been a hit since Mercato Centrale of Fort Bonifacio started it. The concept is about a fusion food experience in a bazaar set-up, wherein you can try different local and international delicacies. Ilocos empanada, taco burger, pastas, isaw, grilled vegetables and a lot more. There are also unique finds that you can’t easily find in the malls like goat milk pastillas. I even saw Iced gems in a big transparent pack which reminded me of my happy childhood. In this food bazaar, you can pool all your favorite dishes, and make a real “food trip” by trying it all at the same time. We tried isaw manok, isaw baboy, Ilocos empanada and to balance these sinful foods, we tried the grilled vegetables, and got black gulaman for our drinks.
In the food bazaar, the look and feel of the place brings a different exprience. The ambience is more relaxed, a cool place to hang out and chilll with friends and office mates. There is a live acoustic band that adds to a fun hang out time. You will not get the same experience in a mall. In a mall, you are contained with in the mall premises and the resto that you will select. The experience is specifically in one place only. Price is also a bit higher. The concept of the food bazaar is similar to weekend markets but this is during night time, which also sets the mood to a “gimmick” time.
Our second stop, dinner at the Donna Donna Korean resto. Like Minsok, the authentic Korean resto that I usually go to, the owner is also very hands-on. She was the one who handed out the menu, and helped served the other dishes. What I have observed here was there were few side dishes, which are various vegetables and other Korean side dishes. In Minsok, the price is cheaper but they have generous servings. Well, we still left the place with bloated tummies.
Our last stop was to try a different kind of dessert. But since we can’t explore more due to time constraints, we decided to have coffee and cake in Goldilocks. The shop’s floor area is good for take outs only. It’s small and there is no space for tables and chairs. So we got the table and chairs of Goldilock’s neighbour, Dominos. Perhaps Goldilocks would like to try to set-up at least 2 coffee tables. This can attract more clients to stay for awhile. Some might want to get a cheaper coffee alternative, with yummy cakes as their dessert.
Goldilocks has now a wider variety of food. They offer coffee and other sweets such as chocolate polvoron, pastillas, pastries which are mostly for pasalubongs. We got 2 whole mini cakes which we shared with each other. We ended our food trip with lots of learnings, good dining experience and of course satisfied tummies.
