Ateneo GSB should be the best alternative for studying MBA abroad

The Central Management Cluster, headed by Prof Dr. Manny Fong met with the new Dean Rudy Ang (he does not want to be called Sir or Dean but simply Rudy) met with some of the Central Cluster Management faculty for the first time since he took over.


These are some of his wish list:

1.  To make the Ateneo GSB as second best alternative for studying abroad.  

   This means taking in full time students and partnering with many best Jesuit Schools worldwide (Dean Ang is the president of the Association of the Jesuit Schools and this is his first year)


2.  To be in markets where Ateneo GSB would make a difference rather than just making money

Areas of concern:

1.  Administrative matters -  quality of work, inputs of administrative staff

2.  Program directors for various programs so that growth and quality of the programs are taken care of.

    1.  Why is MM headcount declining?

    2.  What is the difference between Regis and MM

    3. Why is there a 4 session Regis in Cebu and Iloilo?  Why are we giving GSB credits for seminar like sessions?

3.  Admission




Why are admin staff handling admission and there are no faculty members involved

4.  MBA at School of Medicine

   1.  Why is the tuition for GSB paid at the school of medicine and they determine the teaching staff and load?

   2.  Admission requirements

   3.  Passing requirements

He said that he had difficulty in answering the question, why do you want to be the GSB head.  He said that he did not desire this, actively because he simply made himself available for the position.  "He made himself available to the LOrd" and whatever happens he, he will do his best to do the best what the Lord wants.

He needs all the help he can from the present faculty

After hearing all the faculty present discuss their CV verbally, he said he needs all the help he can get from the faculty as he learns about AGSB

Those who were present were ProfJorge, Prof Danny, Prof Lulu Moguel,  Prof Surtida,  Prof Eli Aurellado, Dr. Lydia KIng, Col Sibal, Dr. Manny Fong, Dr. Efren Laxamana, Prof Ivy,  Prof Hilda Teodoro, Dr Carol

It was noted that many of these Prof have:

1.  Extensive consulting jobs/engagements contracts from here and abroad.  Dr. Carol who used to be at Neda is a member of Technical Committee of Ched

2.  Dr Eli just been appointed as member of Board of Accountancy

3.  Many had international schooling and work experience.

3.  Others are entrepreneurs, and businessmen.

Dean Ang who considers himself as an entrepreneur (has pocket real estate development, and 25 franchise mostly with Jollibee group) does not want to hear talks that the present professors would be replaced by the Loyola teaching staff considering the length of service and wealth of managerial and international experience.  He has been with Ateneo for 28 years now.

Or that they are retireable.  (at least 2 in the meeting are well past their retireable age

Expect changes.

He does not like the inbredness of AGSB faculty.  They should be sent to other international schools for change of mindset
