Hi Sir,

Here is our PDQ. We are the first group and the members are: Camille Dela Cruz, Jenny Liquete, Arlo Cristobal and Athens Cruz.

PDQ Report: Hot Pandesal
Pandesal meaning"salt bread" is made with the following simple ingredients: flour, eggs, yeast, sugar and salt.
Pandesal has become the staple breakfast of many Filipinos, partnered usually with hot coffee, chocolate or milk or other typical "palaman".
Currently, the bakery that sells pandesal used various strategies to satisfy as much customers as possible.

INPUT

·         Money
Initial investment is Php 150,000.00 to purchase supply, raw materials and equipments.
·         Manpower
Qualifications
Good baker
Staffs
Store front representatives (at least two)
Baker
Assistant bakers
Delivery personnel (some bakery would sell the pandesal early in morning riding a bike)
·         Materials
Ingredients
Flour, eggs, sugar, salt, yeast, bread crumbs, water
Equipment
Oven, kneading machine, rolling pins, LPG, paper bags, plastics
·         Machinery
Physical layout
Kitchen area and storefront
Store size should be enough to house the ovens and other equipment

THROUGHPUTS

Cooking Process
Mix ingredients and knead the dough.
Let the yeast work through the dough to rise
Bake the pandesal in the oven.
Selling Process
The pandesal will be sold while it is hot.
It will also be sold through bicycles early in the morning, to sell it in almost all houses in the area.

OUTPUT

Price – Php 2.00 each pandesal
Pandesal that has the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, that is soft will definitely be a crowd favorite. However, pandesal nowadays does not have the distinct salty flavor it used to have before.
Satisfied customer = more customers = more income

INNOVATIONS

·         Because there are more people who go to work very early in the morning, some don't have time to go out and buy their breakfast. An innovative strategy of local/unpopular bakeries is to use a bike to peddle along the streets. This is a more convenient way to sell the hot pandesal. But this has been done for many years. The bakeries can take in orders a day before so they know which house to prioritize delivering the hot pandesal.
·         The bakery can also sell hot coffee and choco drink as a partner to the hot pandesal; together with the filling for the pandesal. It would be like a convenient store/delivery bakery.
·         Pandesal can use vegetables like sweet potatoes, squash, or other vegetables to enhance the nutritional value of the pandesal.
·         Add flavors in the pandesal like chocolate, ube, cheese, and many more. < can be improved>

Sincerely,

Athens S. Cruz
