Monetizing ideas - challenge for academicians and entreprneneurs

Entrepreneuralism

The criticism for Facebook and maybe the reason why Wall Street deeply discounted its IPO share prices was Mark Zuckerberg's inability to monetize the popularity of FB.  Its cash generation capability is greatly impaired by the Free business model. Well the Fb ads are working.  But it does not have the clout and the cash generators of say Google.  Google, by having control over traffic generators:   You Tube, Feedburner, blogger, Google Maps, Picassa albums generate a lot of traffic and clicks and therefore more revenues/cash generators for Google.

Monetizing ideas.  That is the challenge for entrepreneurs, including academicians.  It is a big problem for scientists and inventors - how to have these ideas have commercial applications and revenues.  Thus Europe was credited for many inventions, but US profited from commercial applications.  Bell Labs discovered the transistor, but Sony of Japan used it to produce the radios and earn money from them.

I too have problem over this.  This blog is free;  and many businessmen and other entrepreneurs go to me for free, TY advice.  My children have been encouraging me to look up to Bo Sanchez business model.  Before, he gave free advice and inspirational talks.  Now he charges up to high 5 figures on his speaking engagement.  He publishes books for sale and does commercial endorsements.

When will I catch up and learn?
