We had three entrep guests today, as a final group project for SPentrep class. The group is required to bring in an entrepreneur - success, failure, bigtime, small time who would talk on his entrep experience: how he started his venture, his entrepreneurial journey, and his advice to the entrep wannabees.
The three guests are:
l. Nelson Daguyong - taho vendor at Rockwell;
2. Abraham "Abe" - Floro, from AdemU/DLSU; used to manage Caltex service stations, also an ME, grandson of Don Pablo Floro
3. John Aaron Augustus "JAAF"Garcia - of AV Garcia Power System Corp , an ME from UP
Abe Floro
Abe worked for Mobil right after graduation and did not join his Lolo Pablo who headed the Floro conglomorates. He took up ME so that he can help build factories for Floro Group. When Caltex took over Mobil, he decided he would be on his own; he put up a service station taking knowledge from his work in Mobil. He said that DLSU taught him to be street smart and wild (the situs was Taft Avenue). Ateneo taught him to be straight and to depend on the father up there.
Running a service station was a 24/7 job; right now he gives 12 hours a day to his work. The father and daughter team of Abe and Nina (Nina works at IBM, a unika hija) runs a automotive repair shop and a travel agency.
JAAF Garcia
He is working for his family business which is engaged in power generation. He is Master of Electrical Engineering from UP and they specialize in power generation, renewables which is an entirely new field that emerge from the Renewable Energy Act. He talked very technical terms. The professor monopolized the Q and A portion with JAAF.
Nelson
Nelso focussed on how he met the President of Rockwell and how he got his break to sell taho at Rockwell. Rockwell just charges him P200.00 per taho container
