Our 3rd session (actual 2nd) for MBA Sentrep - not the typical MBA class

We opened the class with you tubes rendition of  Tanging Yaman.

We did the following:

l.  Lecture on introduction to entrepreneurship (from this blog and slideshare link) What were emphasized:   creating something new, innovation, new products, it is magic (from Walt Disney - Larry Farrel.  It is creating something from practicality nothing.

2.  At the mention of creating products, we did a re invention/redesign of the school id on a paired discussion.  The mock up and the new id concept will be presented by next Tuesday, December l8. (Athens proposed a mini Christmas party)

3.  Then we did a mind mapping of three concepts:   entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity.  For most, it is their first encounter of mind maps.

4.  The last part was the application of 3R from green innovation:   reuse, recycle, reduce.  How to create new product/or product from the waste/trash at 4f of AGSB Salcedo.  And they were able in 45 minutes able to come up with new notable products.  The product prototypes were the actualization of mind maps.

We said entrepreneurship is not a spectators sports;  it is about taking action and creating new products/services.  And we did just that.

Green Innovation and tragedy of commons

The tragedy of commons is an example at Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge and by Fr. Jett Villarin, president of Ateneo at the Green Innovation held by AGSB last Dec 4 and 5, 2012.

The tragedy of commons is traced back to the graze land in Sahel South Africa way back in the l920s up to 1970 which saw steady growth in cattle population (wilderbeast?)  There was unusual growth due to rainfall land new wells form intl aid organization in l965.   And because of this, there was overgrazing.   This started in the l960s which saw foliage being consumed by a large herd and inability to the graze land to grow fast enough.  There was a series of drought that struck in the l960s and l970s

In the early 1970s, up to 80% of the herd was dead; and the once prosperous cattle ranchers was poor.

What do we do with free commons:  air, sea, wind, water, trees

The precious commodities:  oil, minerals, fish food, livestock?

Will there be enough for all in the future?

Will tragedy strike us all?

AGSB conference on Green Innovation

The AGSB conducted a conference on Green Innovation starting yesterday, December 4 2012.  It was a six month preparation on the Dr. Carol Guina , head of research dept of AGSB.

In my class, I helped students be aware of this by engaging them in conversation mapping on Urban Renewal which covers transportation, jobs, commuting, architecture, and landscaping.
